Home Coming

Well, coming home and getting settled in seems to take as much getting used to as everything else right now. There are extra steps in just about everything that we're used to doing in our everyday lives. The first couple days and nights have been pretty sleepless for Momma, but it seems to be getting better. We've seen a lot of family since Lydia has arrived and every visit is special. Grandpa Croft came with Great Grandpa Papaw, GGMamaw, Sister and Dakota today for a first time. She thinks Grandpa Croft is pretty silly. They brought a portable bassinet for Lydia so we can keep her by our bed at night. I think we'll all sleep better with that new arrangement.

On the 3rd Day...

It's day 3 and all's well. All's perfect. I think we've probably met everyone that works here at the hospital. It seems like every 10 minutes there's a nurse, tech, lactation specialist, etc. walking through the door. They all knock before they enter but they really don't break stride from hallway to bedside. It's more of a, "I'm here" rather than "can i come in?"

From yesterday to today it seems like Amanda's made a full recovery. Where it took 20 minutes to make a trip to the bathroom with help yesterday, today she gets out of bed by herself, showers, dresses, and gets around in general with no need of help, though help is there. She is doing exceptionally well! When I woke up this morning Amanda was already nursing and I hadn't helped at all. She was able to get everything ready with no help at all. Yesterday it seemed like the healing process was going to move a lot slower, but she's strong willed and determined.

The doctor says that Lydia is in great shape. She's an eager eater and pooper. She's going to fit right in. We'll stay in the hospital one more night and leave sometime tomorow so we're going to milk the last day of professional help for all it's got to offer. Then we start the expedition home.

Mom and Dad Before the BIG SHOW

"What a day!" We kept saying to ourselves, "this doesn't feel real." Mom started the day like any other. Woke up, let the dogs outside, watered the flowers, unloaded the dishwasher, fed the dogs, did some laundry, and was back in bed about a half an hour later. She's been strong and productive throughout the entire pregnancy. Since she's having a planned C-section, she's not been allowed to eat or drink anything since 2am this morning (dad was glad to hear he could eat if he wanted to, and he did.)

We tried to keep ourselves busy all weekend by getting things done around the house and the first part of today was no exception. Getting all the bags together, taking the car to get maintenanced, and making sure everyhting will be perfect for triumphant return home.

At 2pm we were on our way to Northside. No problems leaving home or getting to the hospital. We thought that we'd end up hurring to the hospital just to wait around for 2 1/2 hours, but there wasn't a spare moment.
